Friends of Mother Earth,

The Los Cedros Rainforest is one of the most biologically diverse and endemic habitats on Planet Earth. It consists of 17,000 acres of cloud forest in Northwestern Ecuador.

Watch the 20-min Los Cedros film here!

The Ecuadorian Government has secretly signed a mining agreement with Canadian company “Cornerstone Capital Resources”. This agreement will allow for mining in the Choco Region, which includes Cascabel, the Los Cedros Forest and other sacred, protected forests. The Ecuadorian Government and Cornerstone are both completely disregarding existing, legal protections on the area. If we let Cornerstone in, they will destroy one of the most biologically diverse habitats on Planet Earth.

On one side, we have the forces of economic exploitation that will result in short term economic gain. On the other, we have community based conservation that has maintained sustainability and habitat protection. Who's side are you on? The voice of corporate greed is loud and the only way we can turn the tide is by creating a stronger rainforest community that supports and guards Mother Earth.

Los Cedros is the most biologically diverse habitat on Planet Earth with far more value than any short term economic gain. The agreement must be terminated and the Los Cedros Rainforest must remain protected for the future.

Call upon Cornerstone Capital Resources to STOP the mining and development activities that will result in the destruction of the Los Cedros Rainforest.

By signing this petition, you are demanding:

a) The acknowledgement of Los Cedros as a sacred, protected forest area.

b) The immediate termination of the mining agreement between The Ecuadorian Government and Cornerstone Capital Resources.

c) A refrain from any future mining and development activities in the Los Cedros eco-system.

There are strength in numbers.

Sign the petition now! Or, donate to the Save Los Cedros Campaign on Fund My Planet!

Thank you!

The Carbon Age is ending, hopefully without taking all of us with it. Let it not destroy our most precious places in its death throes.

The forest is a part of us. We cannot let this greed overcome us.

It´s sad to see that the Ecuadorian government has turned away from its original promises to save the environment. Giving land rights to foreign mining companies exploiting natural reserves such as Lod Cedros seemed unimaginable few years ago. What is left of the concept of Buen Vivir?

The Los Cedros Reserve is the most bio diverse area on earth. This ecosystem is the most complex system in the universe that we have discovered. It is our duty to protect it from mining/raw mineral extraction. The species found only here are irreplaceable.
